Compassionate for Hair Loss Care

At Laurie Louise Hair Clinic, we specialise in non-invasive hair loss treatments and bespoke hair extension services designed to restore confidence and individuality.

Founded by Laurie Louise and based in Newport, Isle of Wight, the clinic was created from both professional passion and personal experience. Laurie understands the emotional impact of hair loss and provides compassionate, one-to-one care in a private, welcoming environment.

Every service is tailored to your individual needs, using the latest techniques such as mesh and meshless integrations, non-surgical hair systems, and scalp micropigmentation.

Our aim is simple – to help you look and feel like yourself again.

Understanding Hair Loss

Hair loss can affect anyone — at any age — and I know first-hand how deeply it can impact your confidence and everyday life. At Laurie Louise Hair Clinic, every client is treated with care, understanding and complete discretion. No two journeys are the same, and that’s why every consultation begins with listening — really listening — to your story, your concerns and your goals.

Over the years, I’ve worked with clients experiencing many different types of hair loss. Understanding the cause is an important first step in finding the right solution.

Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA)

Usually beginning at the crown and spreading outwards, CCCA is most often seen in women of African or Caribbean descent. It may be linked to inflammation or continuous tension from certain hairstyles. I always take this into account when designing or fitting any hair system to ensure it’s protective and completely comfortable.

Alopecia Areata

An autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, leading to patchy hair loss. For some, this remains in small areas; for others, it can progress further. I always provide a supportive space for clients experiencing this, and together we explore options to help restore both comfort and confidence.

Telogen Effluvium

This is a temporary type of hair shedding, often triggered by illness, surgery, childbirth, emotional stress, or sudden changes in weight. In most cases, hair naturally recovers once the trigger has passed. During consultations, we’ll discuss ways to support healthy regrowth and manage any ongoing concerns.

Scarring (Cicatricial) Alopecias

These are less common conditions where inflammation damages the follicles and replaces them with scar tissue, leading to permanent hair loss. Early assessment and gentle care are key to protecting the surrounding hair and scalp.

Androgenetic Alopecia (Pattern Hair Loss)

Commonly known as male or female pattern hair loss, this is one of the most frequent types of thinning. It’s largely influenced by genetics and hormones and tends to develop gradually, causing the hair to become finer — often around the crown or hairline.

Other Causes and Contributing Factors

Infections:
Conditions such as fungal scalp infections (for example, tinea capitis) can lead to patchy hair loss but are usually treatable once diagnosed.

Systemic Conditions:
Autoimmune or hormonal issues such as lupus or thyroid disorders can interrupt the hair’s natural growth cycle, resulting in thinning or shedding.

Traction Alopecia:
This occurs when hair is placed under repeated tension from tight styles or extensions. I carefully assess this during consultations and always recommend gentle, protective options to support recovery.

Trichotillomania:
A stress-related condition where someone repeatedly pulls out their own hair. It can be linked to anxiety or emotional distress, and I always approach it with patience and understanding, sometimes alongside other supportive professionals.

Medication and Treatments:
Some medications — including chemotherapy — can cause temporary hair loss known as anagen effluvium.

Post-Treatment Hair Loss and Recovery

Traditionally, clients were advised to wait around nine months after chemotherapy or major surgery before considering a hair system. Thankfully, modern medical-grade solutions have changed that.

At Laurie Louise Hair Clinic, I offer specialist systems designed for delicate or healing scalps — lightweight, breathable and completely safe. Every client begins with a simple allergy test, and once it’s clear, we can move forward gently and safely.

These systems can even be adapted for children, offering discreet, comfortable coverage and helping restore confidence during what can be a very emotional time for both clients and families.

What an amazing experience from consultation to having the hair added and styled.

Laurie Louise is truly amazing, professional and understanding.

My hair fell out due to weightloss surgery and I have been struggling to get it long as it constantly breaks or falls out.

Laurie Louise has given me recommendations on products and how to care for my new hair.

I have had endless compliments on how my hair is stunning.
